Which model Flow Hive to get?
This handy guide can help you choose.
Western Red Cedar is a beautiful lightweight timber with a remarkably fine and stable grain structure. It’s also highly durable and naturally weatherproof.
Araucaria is a sustainably harvested premium Australian native cabinet timber, highly regarded for its stability & durability. It requires two coats of quality weatherproof sealant such as exterior house paint.
Paulownia is very light, fine-grained, and warp-resistant. It has natural insulative qualities – great news for cold climates and overwintering.
The standard width 6-frame Flow Hive (equivalent to 8-frame Langstroth equipment) is widely used around the world.
If you live in a region where the temperature is very cold during winter, or you would like extra honey yield, you may prefer to use the 7-frame version.
